Presentation Kit
Product Overview The EtBr GreenBag™ Disposal Kit allows rapid and trouble-free concentration of ethidium bromide from large volumes of solutions into a small “tea bag” which is then conveniently disposed along with other solid hazardous wastes. One kit has the capacity to remove 500 mg of EtBr from solutions (10 mg EtBr/bag), enough to satisfy the requirements of most laboratories for a year. Ethidium bromide solutions used for visualizing DNA and RNA on gels are generally colorless. However, these solutions are still harmful as described in standard protocols and verified by the Ames II Mutagenicity Assay. The effectiveness of the EtBr GreenBag™ Disposal Kit in decontaminating such solutions has been shown by background mutagenic effect observed when tested using the Ames II assay. Additionally, colored EtBr waste solutions recovered from cesium chloride banding of plasmid DNA are rendered colorless upon decontamination with an EtBr GreenBag™.
